Tron: The Next Chapter

Director Joseph Kosinski is in negotiations to helm Tron, described as "the next chapter" of the 1982 film. The new Tron project will scripted by Lost writers Adam Horowitz and Eddie Kitsis and, interestingly, will be produced by original film co-scribe & director Stephen Lisberger.

I love the idea of seeing a Tron film I can't deny it... I do have concerns however on whether it can truly look better or have an equal impact as the original did?

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem

Aliens vs. Predator: Requiem directors Greg and Colin Strause spoke to MTV News they apparently distanced themselves from the original AVP saying "The studio knew that, although the last movie made a lot of money, it didn't really resonate solidly with the fans. To get the same people back into the theater a second time, it was gonna be a bit of an uphill battle." They also never met with AVP director Paul Anderson citing "I don't think anyone wanted us to talk to him. This movie works even if you didn't see [Anderson's]... We really have to prove to the fans that this movie's gonna be very different from the last one." The pair also speak of the R-rating, confirming a kid painfully and graphically dies onscreen via a chest burster alien. The Predalien hybrid kills a lot of Predators early in the film, and essentially serves as the 'Alien Queen' in this entry. "I'd like to do another one (A Sequel) but I'd like to do it in space. The next one either has to be more of the bridge after this and before 'Alien,' or you could do something after 'Aliens. We have a pretty finite ending to this, but we have a cliffhanger per se; it's a setup" says Greg.
This I have to admit has me a little intrigued to see what they do with it

Terminator 4 Weisz or Sevigny as Killer Cyborgs???

Rachel Weisz and Chloe Sevigny are reportedly battling it out to play a killer cyborg in the new 'Terminator' film. The Hollywood beauties both tried to impress the producers of the much-anticipated sequel during a Dazed and Confused magazine party at New York nightclub Weisz, 36, and 32-year-old Sevigny are said to have wasted no time in approaching Derek Anderson and Victor Kubicek, both big hitters at Halycon Company who own the rights to the movie. A source told the New York Daily News newspaper: "Chloe and Rachel personally inquired to Anderson and Kubicek about the role at the party." The cast for the film is yet to be named, but it is believed a high profile "hunk" has already been cast as the male lead. However, Weisz may struggle to fit any new projects into her already busy schedule. She is already signed up to star in director Peter Jackson's 'Lovely Bones' and next year will start shooting 'Sin City 2' with filmmaker Robert Rodriquez. Meanwhile, Sevigny has low-profile German romance 'Peter and Catherine' on her current filming schedule So would any of you like to see either of the beauties in T4?

I honestly thought the female cyborg was done now...I didn't think we would have a repeat performance of it in this new film?? I thought they would have went for something completely different again like a super advanced kick ass cyborg child perhaps???

Paddington Bear Movie

Harry Potter producer David Heyman has attained the rights to Michael Bond’s books for Warners and hired Mr Bean’s Holiday scribe Hamish McColl to pen a script based on the stories.
It’ll feature Paddington’s origin – his trip from Peru wearing his iconic duffle coat, his marmalade fetish, his adoption by the Brown family and the scrapes he gets into thanks to his well-meaning but clumsy nature. "Paddington Bear is a universally loved character, and I have wanted to bring him to screen for some years,” blabbed Heyman to Variety. “Michael Bond's Paddington books have such wit, wonder and charm. Essentially, Paddington's story is that of an immigrant arriving in London and trying to find a home and a family. Above all, I love Paddington's unique style of comedy."

Could be good so get those pots of marmalade ready! lol

The Justice League

Some interesting news in the new Justice League movie from George Miller. He will be shooting it in Australia.
The real bit of interesting news, though, is that Barrie Osborne, producer of The Matrix and The Lord of the Rings trilogy is onboard as producer for this flick. This project could be absolutely amazing. Doing a superhero movie with Motion Capture could lead to something fantastic if Miller goes for a more stylized flick and keeps away from the photo-real. Even the photo-real could be great. It sounds like it could be spectacular.

The Incredible Hulk

I have to say I'm looking forward to this film...they were right to start a fresh again after the disaster of the first one.....Ed Norton doing the screenplay and starring also adds to my enthusiasm. They have also changed the look of the big green guy and made him much darker and much more monstrous....more like the comics actually ....but check out this small trailer and see him for yourselves

Beowulf

Just looked at the trailer there and I have to say Robert Zemeckis's film looks the amazing...he used a special technique of digitally enhanced live action. (Motion Capture) and has a cast list as long as your arm including Ray Winstone, Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie, Brendan Gleeson, and Robin Wright Penn...oh and that guy from Enterprise (oh well I suppose it can't be all good lol) The story is based on the epic poem, Beowulf and is about a man who comes to a town to rid it of the monstrosity known as Grendel who terrorizes it. The also plan on using 3D projection technology on a larger scale than previous films before it Anyway check out the trailer ...here's a link!!

Type 2 Diabetes and Obesity not Necessarily Linked??

Type 2 Diabetes is the disease most often publicly associated with obesity...... Health product Organisations, medical crowds and Government use the health care costs and death toll from this condition to inflate statistics (they do this all the time with diseases associated loosely with Obesity and then add up all the costs which are all brought to bear on the obese/overweight) For years, they have claimed rising rates of obesity will fuel Type 2 Diabetes, producing the first generation of children with a shorter life expectancy than their parents ......But guess what?... Rates of Type 2 Diabetes in children are not skyrocketing. And now even many of the researchers who announced that steadily rising rates of life expectancy will suddenly drop admitted that their dire predictions were based on "collective judgment" rather than scientific evidence. In fact, a study published Tuesday in the Journal of the American Medical Association found that Type 2 Diabetes among children is "still relatively infrequent." And the accompanying editorial called it rare. I think there should be a law against people releasing certain statistics or facts without real solid scientific evidence to prove their case cause even with that scientific evidence I'm dubious because not only do I think it can be biased due to the health companies funding a hell of a lot of them but its also only fact as we know it now....Trans-fat and the fat gene spring to mind.... Anyway back to Diabetes....It's no coincidence that over the last 20 years rates of Type 2 Diabetes haven't changed significantly, but the prevalence of eating disorders has exploded. Experts warn that over-the-top campaigns against childhood obesity are backfiring, causing kids to binge, diet, and develop eating disorders. I also think it creates a form of prejudice against the overweight too

On a final note ....Why is it that you never hear about this kind of thing on the news? Its always the other side of the coin putting blame on the fat!!

Potential Plot for New Trek Film Revealed

Okay this is both intriguing, shocking and I reckon may annoy some Trek fans but apparently there is a very strong rumour which is looking like it could be true..... It states that the reason Nimoy's Spock is being billed as the main star/character is because of this..... The theory has it that a group of Romulans are thrown back into the past, figuring out where they are and then decide to take advantage by planning to kill James T. Kirk's father, to erase Kirk from the timeline before he even exists ...Now the question is .....If Spock were in a position to change that incident back, and then in a position to guard that timeline and make sure things happen the way they’re supposed to, it creates...an alternate timeline, essentially rebooting the entire franchise without erasing or ignoring canon. This story concept could change everything we know about Trek....do we know who was the first Captain of the Enterprise during the first five year mission? Was it Pike? or was it Kirk in this new alternate Timeline??..... Its very like the Marvel comics series 'Ultimates' which played with the same ideas to reboot series and characters I love it personally.... I think we need big changes to relaunch Trek and you won't get bigger than that!!!

Righteous Kill

I was just reading about this and it sounds like it could be exellent.... The story centres around a series of vigilante killings in New York City which are being investigated by long time police detectives Al Pacino and Robert De Niro. It has a great cast too with John Leguizamo playing a cop in the NYPD who butts heads with Pacino and De Niro as they search for the serial killer. Dan Futterman and Trilby Glover both play attorneys and professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek plays a kid who crosses paths with the detectives during their investigations... Brian Dennehy who is in talks to star too takes on the role of the detective's Captain

Carla Gugino and Donnie Wahlberg also star. Its set to be released next year

Goonies 2 be Animated???

The long-rumored sequel to 80's teen classic "The Goonies" may be a cartoon according to one of its stars. "Right now they are talking about the idea of doing it as an animated series," Corey Feldman recently revealed to MTV News. Feldman is not holding much faith in it though...."It’s a film Spielberg very badly wanted to make, Richard Donner very badly wanted to make. All of the cast really, really wanted to do it. Then Unfortunately the ball got dropped when it came to the script... For whatever reason, Warner Bros. doesn’t see it as a profitable venture. It’s a very sad, unfortunate story." One script "at one point had me working in Vegas as a lounge guy, a Vegas shyster guy. Then there was another one where I was a trial lawyer...The one that I heard that worked the best was all of us were now grown up, and have kids of our own. And the children get into some trouble and end up stumbling across some link to our past. They discover who we really are and what we went through. And, simultaneously, the Fratelli brothers find out that the kids have found out – so they’re out to get the kids and the kids are out to save their lives and their families" says Feldman.
I'm not pushed at all at the idea that it may be an animated thing ....whats the point in that??
Damned Warner Brothers.....this could have been great!!!!

Shoot Em Up

This film looks a laugh and supposedly extremely clever, it has apparently way over the top action scenes involving mainly loads of great gun fights including a skydiving gunfight, another in an arms factory, a delivery of a baby occurs during one too and of what I hear the umbilical cord is cut by a bullet lol and a sex / fight combo scene...lol...which you can check out on this link below.... its funny and Monica Bellucci as always is hooooooooottttt!!!
Clive Owen and Paul Giamatti star in this too and Michael Davis directed...It is set for release on the 14th of Sept.

Rob Zombie's Halloween

I seen the new Halloween movie and I have to say I really enjoyed it....in particular the first 40 -45 minutes of it which is basically about a young Michael Myers....after this it does sort of go back on track to the original slasher of Carpenter's though it does have its differences. The little actor 'Daeg Faerch' that stars as Michael is really fantastic... and there is some great scenes where he has to portray some violent horrific scenes and he does it with a real creepiness and coldness.....I was impressed with him as he doesn't have the look I thought would have been chosen for the future Boogie Man but I think it definitely brings that bit more realism to the role and film. This flick is far less about creating or telling a story about a super killing maniac such as the 70's Myers or Jason or even Freddy but much more about telling a back story of a psychotic killer and what drove him to it or what wasn't done to prevent it. I also believe Zombie plays with us (the audience) a bit in the sense that most slasher movies introduce the characters,.. the good guys... the people we know generally are being lined up for the slaughter save one or two (the likeable leads) who fight back perhaps and survive. We know this is going to happen and we go into a cinema expecting it and revel at their stupidity as they walk in oblivious to whats awaiting them however in this new reworking I felt we were the ones been swiped at..as all the people that Michael kills throughout are just awful horrible people that your almost at a stage where your thinking they deserve it. Michael's home life is dreadful...his Father (or stepfather?) who is a cripple is just awful and constantly mentally abuses the kids but focuses mainly on Michael, his Mother is a stripper and seems more interested in fighting with her husband and being jealous of her daughter then on her son's obvious problems....even when it is pointed out at school to her that he has a fixation on dead animals she doesn't want to listen...Malcolm McDowell's Dr Loomis is introduced here and manages to get her to do so.....but by this stage it really is too late and Michael has gone past the point of no return. Myers is also bullied at school and one of my favourite scenes in the film is when he follows the main bully kid and kills him....its a very well done sequence...... The film does show too Michael's time in the Asylum being spoken to on a daily basis with Loomis and his eventual progression into the silent maniac we all know. I think it is here were the move alters and we are transportered to a much more idylic suburban environment where Michael's sister who was only a baby when Michael was commited is now enjoying her teen life except unlike Carpenter's classic you don't get real likeable teens such as Jamie Lee Curtis though this could be due to Zombie not really devoting much of the screen time on their developments in fact the only one that we are really most in touch with is Michael himself which I felt was part of the film's charm.... The killing's are typical Rob Zombie too which basically means people struggle and don't just die instantly.... you see people being dragged by their legs back, ....repeatedly stabbed.. while screaming and kicking futilly as they struggle to escape their doom...its also quite bloody!! I won't give away endings....I say endings because there is more than one on the go...the one I seen and the one thats been changed for the cinema showings...of what I have heard of the latter I think the one I seen is better!! The Director's wife Sheri Moon Zombie stars as Michael's Mother and I think she does a good job,... she even does a dance routine McDowell also plays his role well too but his part I believe was much more about his feelings of guilt that he let Michael down then about looking like a crazed obsessed doctor though he is that too Yes this movie is not up there with the Carpenter masterpiece but it is an exellent effort at re-imagining the idea and giving a different view I also think it questions the audience perceptions of a slasher movie and the idolisation of a maniac like Freddy or Jason by making his Michael Myers much more human than ever before......

This film is intense, gruesome and ultimately entertaining and well worth a look....

Cage as Magnum

Reports are circulating everywhere that Nicholas Cage is considering playing Thomas Magnum, a role originated by Tom Selleck on TV, in the Universal movie. According to The Daily Express, "Nicolas likes the mix of comedy and crime-solving in the script." It also says that the project fell apart 18 months ago when Ricky Gervais rejected the notion of playing Higgins to George Clooney's Magnum. Apparrently should Cage sign on, casting will then commence for the role of Higgins, Magnum's Brit boss. The film would reportedly be due out in 2009.

I really hope this isn't true... I could think of no worse actor for the role of Magnum

Oliver Stone's Pinkville

According to the trades, Oliver Stone is in final negotiations with United Artists to finance Pinkville, a mystery drama he plans to direct about the infamous 1968 My Lai massacre that ended up being a key turning point in the Vietnam War. Bruce Willis and Channing Tatum are set to star in the picture, which will have an estimated budget of $40 million and be distributed through MGM. Willis will play Army General William R. Peers, the man who oversaw the investigation into the horrendous slaughter of 350 to 500 Vietnamese civilians by U.S. troops in the village of My Lai. Most of the victims were defenseless women, children and elderly, and the incident and a subsequent cover-up by the military helped galvanize opposition to American intervention in southeast Asia. Tatum, (who I haven't really heard that much about) will play Hugh Thompson, the courageous helicopter pilot who managed to halt the carnage by putting his chopper down between the attackers and the few remaining villagers still alive. After subsequently reporting the incident to his superiors, Thompson was reprimanded for his actions.
